So Much Choice

There are a huge amount of cameras on the market today. Anyone who wants to purchase one has a terrific range to choose from. Not only that, but there are so many different types of camera available now. You have to try and choose from five main types of camera which are suitable for the starter or novice photographer: Compact, Bridge, Compact System Camera, Digital Single Lens Reflex and Camera Phone.
The camera phone is very popular and for many this is sufficient for all their photographic needs. They are quite sophisticated pieces of equipment and can obtain really good results. The compact has historically been the easy and less costly option for most people. These cameras have a wide range of features depending on the model and price. They can be simple point and shoot or they can be very advanced with many of the features that you would find on a more high end camera. The bridge camera is really just a camera that fills in the space between a compact and an DSLR. they have very long reach lenses and can fit the bill for many aspiring photographers.
The biggest competition nowadays would seem to be between the DSLR which has been around for many years, SLR for a lot longer, and the newer Compact System Cameras. These newer cameras have all the advantages of the SLR but without the pentaprism that takes up quite a bit of space. This allows these cameras to pack a lot of technology into a smaller body and still retain the interchangeable lens systems. This makes them a very popular choice for many photographers. Overall, the DSLR or digital single lens reflex camera is probably still the most popular camera but it will have to watch its back as the CSC cameras are hot on their tail as the choice of camera for a lot of people in recent times.
